Error message in Fozzels: "You exceeded your current quota"

If you get an error message in Fozzels using OpenAI, stating "You exceeded your current quota, please check your plan and billing details.", it means that your quota or rate limit at OpenAI has been reached.


This has to do with limits applied by OpenAI. 

There are two types of limits: 

  • one regarding euros (“usage limits”) 
  • one regarding the use of OpenAI via the API. A maximum number of “tokens” per minute (“rate limits”). 


We can not see which limit has been reached in your OpenAI-account. 

You can best see that for yourself at: https://platform.openai.com/usage

You can see which “Tier” your account is in in the upper left there.

The older your account with OpenAI, and the more you have paid over time, the higher the “rate limit” becomes as well.


So what to do to solve this issue? 

  • Maybe pay more to OpenAI; once 50 or 100 dollars; depending on your “Tier”.
  • Just wait for a few days.
  • Lower the number of products for which you generate texts with Fozzels per day.
